Wanted:  proctors for EOG testing at Githens on May 17, 18 and 19, from 7:45-11:45.  Volunteers may sign up for one morning or all three.  Please indicate if there's a preference for small group (1-10 students) or regular classroom (11-28).  Proctors are also needed for the two mornings of EOG makeup testing:  May 20 and 21.  Please contact Nancy Gibson at 560-3966 ext 66240 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are available to proctor and when.  Thank you.

Brian and Brok captured 2nd place at the Regional Science Fair with their project on different types of bridges. They will be representing Githens at the State Fair in March 2010.

Did you know that the amount of time a student spends reading independently is directly related to how well he/she does on standardized reading tests?  Githens students read books of their choice at least 20 minutes each morning during the Academic Literacy Enrichment period. They are reading so fast, we are running out of books.

You can help by donating new or used age appropriate books to help build our classroom libraries.

Books can be placed in the drop off box in the media center. Put the donor’s name with the books, and we will place your name on the Book Shelf of Fame.
