Professional Business Day Speakers
Githens is hosting a series of professional business guest speakers. Speakers will share their experiences in their career and encourage our students to make good choices which lead to better future opportunities.
We really appreciate all our Professional Day guest speakers for sharing their time and talents with us!
Our first speaker was Matthew Johnson from Johnson Law Office, PLLC. He spoke about his career as a lawyer and business owner. He encouraged our students not to give up, especially when the road to fulfilling their dreams gets tough, as he had overcome obstacles in achieving his.
On Wednesday February 1st Maureen Woloszczuk the Vice President of GMW Carolina Inc and Franchise Owner/Operator & NC Area Developer for Dickey's Barbeque Pit in the Triangle Area. She shared her experiences with her customers and her employees and gave everyone in attendance a Dickey's coupon.
On Wednesday February 8th we got to hear from Captain Matt Williams, Fire Tech Lewton Britton and Fire Fighter Mike Bobbit from the Durham Fire Department. They are all based in our neighborhood at Hope Valley Road and Swarthmore Road. The students also got to take a close up look at a fire truck.
On Wednesday February 15th, Candina Bynum, a Dental Hygenist, and Deirdre Epps, an Office Leader, from Dr. Rober Legler's Dentist Office came to speak to the students about careers in the Dental field. Each student also received a dental "goodie bag".
